This close fitting, scrunchy, reversible cowl is knit in Yarn Indulgences Indulgent DK weight yarn. Stockinette and reverse stockinette stitches are used to show off this gorgeous Garnet colourway. Abacus can also be knit with garter stitch borders (instructions included). You may customize circumference by casting on more or fewer stitches and customize length by knitting more or fewer rounds. My cozy cowl is knit with one skein of Indulgent DK. Enjoy!

Materials
225 meters / 250 yards Indulgent DK in Garnet
4.00mm / US 6 / UK 8 double pointed needles or circular needles (maximum 24”)
3.50mm / US 4 / UK 9 needles if knitting garter stitch border
1 stitch marker

Gauge (stockinette stitch)
21 stitches = 4 inches

Measurements (approximate, after blocking)
19 inches around and 10 inches tall

Abbreviations
K = knit
P = purl
SM = stitch marker

Notes:
My cowl is 19 inches around. For each additional inch in circumference, cast on an extra 5 stitches.

Instructions for Abacus Cowl:
With 4.00mm needles, cast on 104 stitches. Place SM to mark beginning of round. Begin working in the round (be careful not to twist stitches).
Knit 8 rounds
Purl 10 rounds
Knit 30 rounds
Purl 10 rounds
Knit 8 rounds
Cast off all stitches knitwise. Wet block to smooth out ridges.

Instructions for Abacus Cowl with garter stitch border:
With 3.50mm needles, cast on 104 stitches. Place SM to mark beginning of round. Begin working in the round (be careful not to twist stitches).
Knit 1 round, purl 1 round. Repeat these two rounds another 6 times.
Switch to 4.00mm needles and knit 30 rounds.
Switch to 3.50mm needles. Knit 1 round, purl 1 round. Repeat these two rounds another 6 times.
Cast off all stitches knitwise. Wet block.
