This cowl uses just two balls of Classic Elite La Gran Mohair. My cowl is done in True Navy shade 61510 with 5mm needles. I chose La Gran Mohair for its density and fluffiness. Enjoy!
Materials
164 meters mohair
5 mm needles
Gauge
16 stitches and 24 rows in garter stitch = 4″
Measurements
approximately 9″ x 28″
Abbreviations
K = Knit
P = Purl
SL1 = slip one stitch
MB = make bobble
P2TOG = Purl two stitches together
K2TOG = Knit two stitches together
PSSO = pass slipped stitch over
Notes
Make bobble:
K into front, back, front, back, front and back of stitch, turn work
P6, turn work
K6, turn work
P2Tog 3 times, turn work
SL1, K2TOG, PSSO
Instructions
Cast on 35 stitches
Rows 1-4: SL1, K to end
Row 5: MB, K to end
Row 6: MB, K to end
Rows 7-10: SL1, K to end
Repeat rows 1-10 another 16 times. Cast off. Join ends.

Can this pattern be knit on circular needles as one piece?

Yes, you could do this on circular needles. You would need to figure out how big the cowl needs to be and do a swatch to get the number of cast on stitches. You could put the bobbles on the first row and the last row. I think this may work. Thanks!

Yes, you can do this pattern in wool. I’ve seen it knit in plain wool, it looks quite different. Do you have any wool/alpaca blend? This will look nice as well.

Yes, you could use almost any yarn with this pattern. Wool will look different, but still lovely. Enjoy the pattern!

A beautiful cowl that would love to have a go at making. I am in the UK where wool/yarn is sold by weight. Do you know what 164 metres would equate to in grammes?

My blue cowl was knit with 200 grams of mohair. Perhaps you could take a copy of this pattern to your yarn shop and try to find an equivalent yarn. Good luck with this!

so I am new to knitting and am having a hard time with this pattern . . for some reason my cowl is decreasing after I make the bobble – I think I am missing a step . . . I increase from three to six in the first part and at the end, when you pearl you go back to three and then down to one in the last part – so I lose two each time . . . that can’t be right. Help! This look so lovely I really want to make one
