I have just started the first row of bobbles. This is my first bobble project and I really am grateful you made the technique understandable. I hope mine will looks as good as yours does.

Thanks for this terrific pattern. I have made three in the last month. They are so easy to wear – no adjusting or pulling required. They can make great quick gifts, but for now I am hanging on to my three. Peg

Can this pattern be knit on circular needles as one piece?

    • March 12, 2011 3:40 pm

      Hi Doreen!
Yes, you could do this on circular needles. You would need to figure out how big the cowl needs to be and do a swatch to get the number of cast on stitches. You could put the bobbles on the first row and the last row. I think this may work. Thanks!

I love this pattern, thank you so much for offering it for free, I was wondering if I could use wool instead? I don’t have any mohair available to me.
    Thanks

      Hi Jo Annie

Yes, you can do this pattern in wool. I’ve seen it knit in plain wool, it looks quite different. Do you have any wool/alpaca blend? This will look nice as well.

      Have fun with this pattern!

A beautiful cowl that would love to have a go at making. I am in the UK where wool/yarn is sold by weight. Do you know what 164 metres would equate to in grammes?

    • March 5, 2012 1:03 pm

      Hello Karen!

My blue cowl was knit with 200 grams of mohair. Perhaps you could take a copy of this pattern to your yarn shop and try to find an equivalent yarn. Good luck with this!

      Hi Aileen,

The instructions for making bobbles are written in the Notes section above the pattern instructions. Enjoy!

so I am new to knitting and am having a hard time with this pattern . . for some reason my cowl is decreasing after I make the bobble – I think I am missing a step . . . I increase from three to six in the first part and at the end, when you pearl you go back to three and then down to one in the last part – so I lose two each time . . . that can’t be right. Help! This look so lovely I really want to make one
